The short version: Vanilla Brain stores what your AI agents remember so that every agent you use can share one memory. To run that service, our developers and operators can access the data you store. This page is the full, plain-language version of that deal.
Effective date: August 7, 2026.
Vanilla Brain is a cloud memory for AI agents. Agents you connect save memories, captured conversations, and captured documents to your account and read them back in later sessions, on any machine. The service is currently a preview: it is free, it evolves quickly, and features may change.
By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Your data is not end-to-end encrypted. Everything you store is readable by the service, and Vanilla Brain developers and operators can access all of it — memories, captured conversations, captured documents, and account records. We access it to operate, debug, support, secure, and improve the service: that includes investigating problems, maintaining storage, running nightly organization jobs, and verifying that features work against real accounts.
Automated maintenance also processes your content — nightly tidying, de-duplication, and distillation jobs read your stored content, and those jobs may run through the AI models connected to your account.
Because of all of the above: do not store passwords, API keys, or other secrets in Vanilla Brain. The service refuses obviously credential-shaped content, but that filter is a courtesy, not a guarantee.
The service runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-west-2), including S3 for encrypted backups. Transactional email is sent through Amazon SES; our mail domain is hosted on Microsoft 365. Optional Google sign-in shares your email address with us through Google. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Captured conversations are pruned on a retention window you control (30 days by default); captured documents are kept until you delete them or set a document retention window. Deleting a memory removes it from active systems promptly; backups that contain it expire on a rolling basis within about seven days. To delete your whole account, email us at the address below and we will confirm when it is done.
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the same extent, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero, while the preview is free). We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service; if we discontinue it we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
When these terms change we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
